Once we have determined the appropriate dental implant, it will be next be necessary to address any preexisting decay and periodontal disease. Before placing the implant post, a local anesthetic is administered. Depending on the patient it might include a dental sedation. Once you are sufficiently numbed, our implant surgeon will surgically place the titanium implant into a tiny hole in your jawbone. Once the titanium post is sufficiently placed, it will take a few months for your jawbone to fuse or grow around the post through a process called osseointegration. If you are having Same Day Teeth® procedure, in which case the implant and new tooth will be placed on the same day. Once this process is complete and the post is adequately fused, we will place the abutment or extension on the post to reach the gumline and then attach the crown, which has been designed in our labs to recreate your natural bite and smile.
