Dental implants Tampa are an ideal option for missing teeth replacement
Dental implants are titanium posts acting as artificial tooth roots surgically placed in your jaw to support a replacement tooth. This new replacement tooth is then designed to not only look like your natural tooth but to also feel like your natural tooth. It will restore the aesthetic appearance of your smile, provide optimal functionality, and reduce the risk of you developing other oral health issues. After the titanium post is placed in your jawbone, our qualified lab technicians will design a custom-made crown that is milled from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). They will use computer images and impressions of your bite and designed to color-match your remaining natural teeth, resulting in a seamlessly integrated smile and the return to the preferred aesthetic and functionality of a natural bite.
At Coastal Jaw Surgery, every patient who walks through our office door will receive VIP Treatment delivered by our team of dedicated professionals who are leaders in their fields and are ready to provide you with personalized care using the most cutting-edge dental technology available. the Dental Implant Process
Our office offers several different treatment options for dental implants, including traditional dental implants, implant-supported dentures, implant-retained dentures All-on-4, All-on-6, zygomatic implants, subperiosteal implants and Same Day Teeth®. We are always excited to provide a free consultation to determine which implant treatment option is right for you.
Once we have determined the appropriate dental implant, it will be next be necessary to address any preexisting decay and periodontal disease. Preexisting conditions might mandate us to perform a dental bone graft or sinus lift if there is not enough jawbone to support the implant. Once we have addressed these issues, the actual dental implant process will begin with a state of the art, 3D cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan, which will provide us with 3D images of your bone, nerve pathways, soft tissues, and teeth. This allows us to determine optimal placement of your implant using the best digital assessment software and related state-of-the-art technology available to ensure that your treatment is indeed customized for you. Some service providers, especially corporate-based entities, treat everyone the same way with the one-size-fits-all mentality. We understand that you are as unique as your fingerprints and as a result, we create from a variety of digital-based, absolute precision solutions to give you back your beautiful natural smile and restore your ability to chew and eat foods that you so enjoy. Our unique and specific approach not only includes a comprehensive treatment plan for each of our patients, but it also includes a thorough explanation and ongoing follow-up care.
Before placing the implant post, a local anesthetic is administered. Depending on the patient it might include a dental sedation. Once you are sufficiently numbed, our implant surgeon will surgically place the titanium implant into a tiny hole in your jawbone. Once the titanium post is sufficiently placed, it will take a few months for your jawbone to fuse or grow around the post through a process called osseointegration. If you are having Same Day Teeth® procedure, in which case the implant and new tooth will be placed on the same day. Once this process is complete and the post is adequately fused, we will place the abutment or extension on the post to reach the gumline and then attach the crown, which has been designed in our labs to recreate your natural bite and smile.
Aftercare Instructions for Dental Implants
Following your dental implant placement; any post-procedural pain, swelling, and complications can be minimized or avoided when you follow these instructions.
- Avoid disturbing the surgical area
- If possible, limit intense physical activity for the first three days, but most importantly following surgery.
- Post-procedural pain typically develops once the anesthetic wears off. Once you begin to feel discomfort or pain, take Over the Counter (OTC) or prescription medication as directed.
- Place ice packs on the area where surgery occurred for twenty minutes at a time to control swelling.
- Follow a soft food diet for approximately two weeks. As the healing progresses, you can begin to slowly reintroduce harder foods.
- Avoid tobacco products and alcohol, as both can slow the healing process
- Avoid spitting, rinsing, or using a straw for the first 24 hours minimum.
- You may experience tooth sensitivity to cold/hot temperatures, but this should go away as the healing process progresses.
In addition to following these aftercare instructions, we also strongly encourage our patients to follow a six-month continued maintenance program, which will include regular professional cleanings of your teeth and will also allow us to monitor your new dental implant and your overall oral health. By closely following aftercare instructions, scheduling this regular maintenance, and continuing to follow good daily oral hygiene habits, you will enjoy a fast recovery that should be free of complications, and continue to enjoy a bright, healthy smile for years to come.
