DENTAL IMPLANTS SPRING HILL are an ideal option for missing teeth replacement

Dental implants are like an artificial tooth roots which are surgically placed in your jaw to support a replacement tooth. The replacement tooth is then designed to look and feel like your natural tooth, restoring the aesthetic appearance of your smile, returning to optimal functionality, and reducing your risk of developing other oral health issues. Following the placement of that artificial root, which is a small titanium post in your jawbone, our qualified lab technicians will design a custom-made crown that is milled from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) using computer images and impressions of your bite. The crown is designed to color-match your remaining natural teeth, resulting in a seamlessly integrated smile and your return to the desired aesthetic look and the functionality of your natural bite.

At Coastal Jaw Surgery, every patient who enters our clinic receive VIP Treatment delivered by our dedicated professionals who are all leaders in their fields and ready to provide you with personalized care using the latest cutting-edge dental technology available. For over three decades, our team has proudly provided thousands of patients in the Tampa Bay area with successful dental implant and oral surgery services, including oral surgery, Same Day Teeth®, and other periodontal services.

THE DENTAL IMPLANT PROCESS

Our office offers different treatment options for dental implants. These include traditional dental implants, All-on-4, All-on-6, implant-retained dentures, implant-supported dentures, zygomatic implants, subperiosteal implants and Same Day Teeth®. Our team offers a free consultation to determine which implant treatment option is right for you.

Once the appropriate dental implant option has been determined, it will be necessary to address any you have any preexisting decay and periodontal disease. It might also be necessary to perform a dental bone graft or sinus lift if there is not enough jawbone to support your implant. Once these conditions have been addressed, the dental implant procedure will begin. Starting with a 3D cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan, which will provide us with 3D images of your jawbone, nerve pathways, soft tissues, and teeth, and also allow us to determine the optimal placement of your implant using the best digital assessment software and related state-of-the-art technology to ensure that your treatment is truly customized. Most service providers, especially those that are corporate-based, want to treat everyone the same way with the one-size-fits-all mentality. Your teeth, gums and smile are as unique as your fingerprints and as a result, we will draw from a variety of digitally based, precision solutions. This approach will give you a beautiful natural smile and restore your ability to eat and chew foods that you love. Our team’s unique approach not only includes a comprehensive treatment plan for you, but also a thorough explanation and as importantly ongoing follow-up care.

Before we place the implant, a local anesthetic is administered. Sometimes we may add a dental sedation. Once you are have become sufficiently numbed, our implant surgeon will surgically place the titanium post into your jawbone. Once this dental implant post is placed, it may take several months for your jawbone to fuse around the post through a process called osseointegration, unless you are having Same Day Teeth®, in which case the implant and new tooth will be placed on the same day. Once the osseointegration process is sufficiently completed and the post is fused, we will place the abutment or extension and then attach the crown, which has been designed in our labs to recreate your natural crown, your bite and smile.

Aftercare Instructions for Dental Implants

Following the dental implant placement, post-procedural pain, swelling, and complications can be minimized or completely avoided if the following instructions are closely followed.

  • Post-procedural pain typically develops once the anesthetic wears off. Once you begin to feel discomfort or pain, take Over the Counter (OTC) or prescription medication as directed. Avoid disturbing the surgical area
  • Avoid disturbing the surgical area
  • Place ice packs on the area where surgery occurred for twenty minutes at a time to control swelling.
  • If possible, limit intense physical activity for the first three days, but most importantly following surgery.
  • You may experience tooth sensitivity to cold/hot temperatures, but this should go away as the healing process progresses.
  • Follow a soft food diet for approximately two weeks. As the healing progresses, you can begin to slowly reintroduce harder foods. If possible, limit intense physical activity for the first three days, but most importantly following surgery.
  • Avoid tobacco products and alcohol, as both can slow the healing process
  • Avoid spitting, rinsing, or using a straw for the first 24 hours minimum.

In addition to following these simple aftercare instructions, we will strongly encourage you to follow a six-month ongoing maintenance program, which not only includes regular professional cleanings of your teeth and but also allows us to monitor your dental implant and overall oral health. By closely following our aftercare instructions, scheduling regular, preventative maintenance, and continuing to follow good daily oral hygiene habits, you should not only enjoy a fast recovery that is free of any complications but also continue to enjoy a healthy smile for years to come.
