Dental implants Trinity are an ideal option for missing teeth replacement
Dental implants are unique titanium posts that act as artificial tooth roots surgically placed in your jawbone to then support a replacement tooth. This replacement tooth is not only designed to look and feel like your natural tooth, but it also restores the aesthetic appearance of your smile, provides optimal functionality, and reduces your risk of developing other oral health issues. Following the placement of this tiny titanium post in your jawbone, our qualified technicians in the lab will design a custom-made crown that is milled from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). They are assisted by using computer images and impressions of your bite and are designed to color-match your remaining natural teeth, which results in a seamlessly integrated smile and a return to your desired aesthetic smile and the functionality of your natural bite.
At Coastal Jaw Surgery, when you walk through our door you will receive VIP Treatment delivered by dedicated professionals who are leaders in their dental fields and are ready to provide you with personalized care using the most cutting-edge dental technology that is available today. For over three decades, we are immensely proud to have provided thousands of patients in the Tampa Bay area with dental implant and oral surgery services, including oral surgery, Same Day Teeth®, and other necessary periodontal services.

Steps Involved in the Dental Implant Process
We offer several treatment options for dental implants, including the traditional dental implant, All-on-4, All-on-6, implant-supported dentures, implant-retained dentures, subperiosteal implants, zygomatic implants, Same Day Teeth®. We will happily provide a free consultation to determine which implant treatment option will be right for you.
Once the best dental implant solution has been determined for you, it is necessary to address whether you have any preexisting decay and periodontal disease. If so, it may also be necessary to perform a dental bone graft or sinus lift if there is not enough jawbone to support the implant. Once we have addressed these issues, the actual dental implant process will start with a 3D cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan, which provides us with 3D images of not only your jawbone, but also nerve pathways, soft tissues, and neighboring teeth. This allows us to determine the optimal placement of your implant in your jawbone using the most recent digital assessment software and also related state-of-the-art technology to ensure that your dental implant is truly customized. Many service providers today, especially those that are corporate-based, want to treat everyone the same way with the one-size-fits-all mentality. We feel strongly that your teeth and gums are as unique as your fingerprints and as a result, we will draw from a variety of digital-based, precision solutions to give you back beautiful natural smile and restore your ability to chew and eat foods that you truly love. Our specific approach not only includes a comprehensive, individual treatment plan for each of our patients, but it also includes a thorough explanation and equally as importantly the ongoing follow-up care.
Prior to us placing the implant, we will begin with a local anesthetic. This may include a dental sedation if necessary, for your comfort. Once the gums are sufficiently numbed, our dental implant surgeon will surgically place the small titanium implant into your jawbone. After this dental implant post is properly placed, it usually takes several months for your jawbone to fuse or grow around the post through a process called osseointegration. This is unless you have chosen to have Same Day Teeth®, in which case the implants and new teeth will be placed on the same day. Once this osseointegration process is complete and the post is sufficiently fused, we will next add the abutment on top of you
Aftercare Instructions for Dental Implants
Following the dental implant procedure, swelling, post-procedural pain, and complications can be minimized or avoided if the following instructions are closely followed.
- Avoid disturbing the immediate surgical area
- Post-procedural pain can typically develop after the anesthetic wears off. When you begin to feel discomfort or pain, take Over the Counter (OTC) or prescription medication as directed.
- Place ice packs on your cheek where surgery occurred for twenty minutes at a time to help control any swelling.
- You might experience tooth sensitivity to cold/hot temperatures, but this will go away as the healing process progresses.
- You should follow a soft food diet for approximately two weeks. As the healing progresses, you can begin to slowly reintroduce harder foods.
- Avoid spitting, rinsing, or using a straw for the first 24 hours minimum.
- Avoid tobacco products and alcohol, as both can slow the healing process
- Try to limit any intense physical activity for the first three days, but most importantly following surgery.
In addition to following these basic aftercare instructions, we also strongly encourage you to follow a six-month ongoing preventative, maintenance program, which includes regular professional cleanings of your teeth and allows us to monitor your new dental implant and your overall oral health. By following these simple aftercare instructions, scheduling your regular maintenance, and continuing to follow good daily oral hygiene habits, you will enjoy a speedy recovery that is free of any complications, and you will enjoy a bright, healthy smile for years to come.
